Photo Journal: Colorado Trail – Salida to Durango

Coming back to Denver was now a familiar process. I knew how to get to the train station from the airport and the 4 block walk to Hostel Fish. And I knew the river walk all the way to the Mile High REI. I had a day to tool around Denver and saw baseball fields and giant bears looking into office buildings. A bus ride took me back to Salida, where I enjoyed a day in that special town, wtih the river offering white water right off main street.

But I was really glad to get back on the trial.

These pictures are for some reason, in reverse order. Scrolling to the bottom gets you from Denver to Salida. Beaver dams, Aspen groves and sunsets…

July 4 in Creede and the parade. Smokey The Bear was the only one I saw on the trip. Snow Mesa was a glorious sunrise but my water bag froze. Marmots are people too. Ptarmigans look like the rocks. Wildflowers were ablaze. A partisan butterfly caucus. The Silverton train is a must, as is the victory breakfast at the Durango Diner.

Thanks Gudy!
